Brooklyn Center, Minn. (WTHR) — A 75-year-old woman was arrested and charged with shooting her grandson after he allegedly placed a cup of tea on her furniture.

Helen Washington allegedly shot her grandson in leg. The grandson told police that she had become upset when he repeatedly refused to keep his teacup off of her furniture, prompting her to pour out the tea and grab a .38 Special revolver, KARE reported.

Once she returned with the gun, she saw he had a new cup of tea. She then pulled out her gun and shot him in the leg.

The grandson was found on the front lawn and five rounds were found in her house.

Washington was charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. She is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 18.
