INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Sexual assault survivors across the state will now have a new way to track their evidence.

Governor Eric Holcomb has signed into law a measure creating a new tracking system for rape kits. The law provides more accountability for how kits are handled across the state.

13 Investigates told you about kits getting lost or left sitting in property rooms untested. Now victims can register to get notifications regarding their kits through a database.

The law also provides reimbursements to hospitals and other facilities that provide forensic medical exams.
