Girl, 7, crossing the country hugging cops

HOUSTON, Texas (KPRC) - A Louisiana girl is on a mission to hug police officers in every state.

Rosalyn Baldwin reached the halfway point of her goal in Houston, with plans to hit the other 25 states next.

"I'm hugging the police officers. That's what I'm doing," said 7-year-old Rosalyn Baldwin.

She says the motivation for her journey came from a higher power.

"God sent me on this mission of love," she said. "He said, 'Rosalyn, you need to help these police officers."

Her mission is to say thank you to police officers and spread cheer and love.

"When she hugs them, hugs the police officers, they say that a lot. There's something different in her hug, 'cause she really means it and she's really praying for them," said Rosalyn's mother, Alicia.

Monday morning, she gave out hugs at the Houston Police Academy. Her idea came to life after five Dallas police officers were killed last year.

"I think it just recharges all of our batteries," said Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo.

On her website, the young girl say she wishes to "unite communities by demonstrating her sincere love and appreciation for those who have committed their lives to serving and protecting the people of our nation."

Rosalyn's next stop is Dallas, then she'll travel to the other 25 states, including Indiana.
