LONDON (WTHR) — We know a lot about Prince Harry of course, since he has essentially grown up in front of the worlds camera lens, but what about American, Meghan Markle?

The former actress is set to become Britain's newest royal and she too spent a lot of time in front of the camera.

Meghan Markle grew up in LA. Acting was obviously In her blood. After high school she attended Northwestern University outside of Chicago where she double majored in theater and international relations.

Meghan began her acting career with small roles like Deal or No Deal. She got her big break in 2010 when she landed the role of legal assistant Rachel Zane in the USA network series Suits. She appeared in 108 episodes of the show.

Meghan retired from acting with the announcement of her engagement to Harry. In a fitting good-bye, her Suits character lands her man and ties the knot.

Throughout her life, Meghan has been an active philanthropist. She credits both of her parents with developing her giving spirit.

She became Global Ambassador for World Vision Canada in 2016, which campaigns for better food, healthcare and education for children around the world. She is also a campaigner for gender equality.

In July of 2016, mutual friends introduced Markle to Prince Harry. The two dated in secret before the Prince issued a rare public statement in November confirming their relationship and criticizing the press for hounding Markle and her family.

The upcoming wedding is not Markle's first. Meghan married movie producer and manager Trevor Engelson in 2011. They divorced two years later.
