Get out your 'plogging' shoes to celebrate Earth Day

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - April 22 is known as a day to take care of our planet and people in Indianapolis will be celebrating in a new way this year.

This Earth Day, they’ll be going plogging. If the name doesn’t sound completely familiar, that’s because it’s a Swedish word for picking up trash while you run. You’ll get to exercise and help the environment at the same time.

Sunday’s event is a team effort between Yelp, The November Project, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and Downtown Indy. It’s a three mile run/walk around White River State Park.

Participants will get gloves and bags for picking up trash. After the event, you can meet up at Round Town.

Families, kids and dogs are all welcome. This is planned as the first of several plogging events that will happen around Indianapolis in the next few months. To find out more about it, click here.
