Get active and involved with 'Yelp Helps Week'

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Our partners at Yelp are organizing a week of volunteer work for Indianapolis non-profits.

The first-ever Yelp Helps Week will take place from April 22 - 28, 2018.

Some of the volunteer events are:

  • April 22-28: Yelp + Soupremacy's: Chow-Down for Charity - Eat at Soupremacy during April 22-28 and donate three extra dollars (the price of a cup of soup) with your meal. Soupremacy will be tallying up the donations and bringing the donated vats of soup to the Wheeler Mission at the end of the week.
  • April 22: Yelp Plogs for a Cause - Plogging: the trendy, Swedish word for walking/running while cleaning up the community. In only two miles, we’ll be collecting trash and making a big impact in the White River area. Circle City Kombucha and Round Town Brewery samples included.
  • April 24: Yelp's Wine & Kind Night with Indy Acts of Kindness - Write kind notes to strangers with Indy Acts of Kindness while sampling Peace Water Winery vinos and learning the stories behind these local businesses.
  • April 25: Yelp's Storage Unit Switchover with U-Relish - Local biz U-Relish is transforming their business' storage unit into a food pantry for senior citizens and needs your help. Homemade dinner to follow.
  • April 26: Yelp Squad's Dining Out for Life with The Damien Center - Host a restaurant shift and encourage your friends and family to visit you during your shift. You'll be the liaison to accept The Damien Center donations and explain the organization to visitors at the restaurant that evening.
  • April 26: Yelp's Bingo, Bake-Off at The Ronald McDonald House - Lead a lively round of Bingo and bake ooey-gooey, chocolate chip cookies with other Yelpers at the Ronald McDonald House.
  • April 28: Yelp Helps Week Finale: Great Indy Cleanup with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful - Simply show up and assist with a hands-on, outdoorsy project to beautify the community. In addition to cleaning up our gorgeous city, Yelp will be donating $1 per check-in on the Yelp app.
