GAME BLOG: Chargers beat Colts 30-24 in OT

CARSON, Calif. (WTHR) — The Indianapolis Colts are starting off the 2019 season in Los Angeles against the Chargers. Follow along for game updates.

7:10 p.m. - Ekeler runs it in for a 7-yard touchdown. Chargers win 30-24.

7 p.m. - Regulation time ends. The Colts and Chargers head into overtime. Chargers will have the ball first.

Overtime is 10 minutes. If the team the gets the ball first scores scores a touchdown on the opening possession, they win the game.

Colts receiver Devin Funchess has been ruled out for overtime due to a shoulder injury.

6:48 p.m. - T.Y. Hilton brings shows why they call him "The Ghost." He sneaks evades defenders and dives into the end zone for the touchdown.

Marlon Mack runs in for the two-point conversion and it's a tie game with 38 seconds left in the game. The Chargers still have two timeouts.

6:40 p.m. - The Colts are moving down the field at the 2-minute warning. They'll want to score and get the two-point conversion to give themselves a chance.

6:30 p.m. - Malik Hooker snags a clutch interception in the end zone and runs it back to the Colts' 20.

6:15 p.m. - Brissett throws a laser pass to Eric Ebron in the end zone. The ball bobbles as he rolled to the ground and refs call it incomplete.

Colts challenge but the call stands.

Vinatieri kicks a 29-yard field goal and misses again. Chargers still lead 24-16.

6:05 p.m. - Brissett gets sacked by Joey Bosa. After failing to convert on third and 17, the punt unit comes out.

The Chargers' returner fumbles the punt and the Colts recover. They take over at the Chargers' 27 yard line.

6 p.m. - The Colts defense gets its third sack of the day. This time it's Al-Quadin Muhammad.

Two plays later and Rivers is sacked again on third down. He fumbles the ball but Chargers recover. They punt and the Colts offense takes the field.

5:43 p.m. - Marlon Mack evades the Chargers defense and goes 63 yards to the end zone. Extra point is good. Colts trail 24-16 with 7:40 left in the third quarter.

5:48 p.m. - Chargers receiver Austin Ekeler catches a pass from Rivers, breaks a few tackles and takes it to the house. Extra point is good. Chargers lead 24-9.

5:41 p.m. - Vinatieri's kick is good from 44 yards out is good this time. Colts trail 17-9.

5:35 p.m. - The Colts start the second half with the ball.

5:20 p.m. - Vinatieri's 46-yard field goal attempt is wide left. That's two uncharacteristic misses from the NFL's all-time leading scorer.

The first half ends. Colts down 17-6.

5:13 p.m. - The Chargers make a 40-yard field goal. They lead 17-6 with just over a minute left in the half.

5:10 p.m. - Darius Leonard batted away a Rivers pass, but comes down with a hard landing and heads to the sideline to see the trainers. He comes back on the field, appearing OK.

4:57 p.m. - Colts go three and out and wide receiver Devin Funchess limps off the field after failing to convert on third and 9.

Chargers get a hand on Rigoberto Sanchez's punt. It goes 20 yards. The Chargers offense comes onto the field starting at the Colts' 46 yard line.

4:50 p.m. - Justin Houston gets the Colts' second sack of the day. On the following play, the Chargers get flagged for illegal formation.

On third and long, Rivers throws a 28-yard touchdown to Keenan Allen. Extra point is good. Chargers lead 14-6.

4:41 p.m. - Colts score a touchdown on a 5-yard pass from Brissett to Hilton. Vinatieri misses the extra point. Colts trail 7-6. with 10:02 left to play in the half.

4:35 p.m. - The first quarter ends and the Colts will start the second quarter with a third down conversion. Brissett ran up the middle for a 1-yard gain.

4:25 p.m. - The Chargers make a 22-yard field goal, but the Colts get flagged for unnecessary roughness. That gives the Chargers a first down.

The Chargers offense returns to the field and Rivers throws a 1-yard touchdown to running back Austin Ekeler. Chargers lead 7-0 with 2:55 left to play in the first quarter.

4:12 p.m. - On third and 9, Brissett is sacked and the Colts punt it away.

4:08 p.m. - Ben Banogu sacks Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers on third down, forcing a punt.

Jacoby Brissett takes the field for the first time as the starter since Andrew Luck's retirement. T.Y. Hilton catches his first pass for a short gain. A pass to Deon Cain gets the Colts' first first down of the game.

4:05 p.m. - It's beautiful weather in Los Angeles for football. Sunny and 78 degrees at kickoff time.

There are a few inactive players for the day.

Colts win the coin toss, defer, and start off on defense.
