Four injured in Marion foundry explosion

Four workers were injured in an explosion early Wednesday at the Atlas Foundry in Marion.

The blast occurred shortly after 3:00 am in a metal melting furnace at the plant on Henderson Ave.

According to the company president, there were four injuries: two treated and released at the scene; one treated and released at a hospital; and one male victim admitted to a hospital burn center. His condition is unknown.

The cause of the explosion is unknown. IOSHA is investigating.

The facility will be closed for a few days.
