Former Colts punter Pat McAfee leaves Barstool Sports

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — "I'm officially a free agent," posted Pat McAfee as he announced his departure from Barstool Sports.

McAfee joined the satirical sports and pop culture blog after retiring from the NFL in February 2017.

He said he quit football for two reasons: One, he was looking at his third knee surgery in four years, and will need additional surgeries down the road. Two, he had an offer from Barstool Sports.

In his departure letter posted in a tweet Friday, McAfee also points to a fine he got from Colts management over a tweet.

McAfee's departure from Barstool Sports is also an uneasy one.

While thanking fellow hosts and those who brought him onto the project, McAfee claims he was being disrespected by the business people in the building.

McAfee says he is not sure what he will do next, but will continue to make podcasts and post videos on social media.
