Flu death toll rises to 50 in Indiana this season

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The number of flu-related deaths in Indiana has jumped again, doubling in just one week.

New numbers released Friday by the State Department of Health show 50 people have died from the virus so far this season. The majority of those patients were over the age of 65.

At this time last year, there had only been four deaths from the flu in Indiana.

The flu is now widespread in every state except Hawaii.
