FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Erica Roberts came up with a special birthday surprise her mother won’t soon forget.

It’s a twist on the flash mob craze you see all over the Internet.

"It blew me away. I didn't know what to think," said Pat Springer, who turned 70 on Saturday.

Erica found 70 co-conspirators, strangers at Glenbrook Mall. She armed each of them with carnations, Springer’s favorite flower.

And when the “flower flash mob” was triggered, the 70 approached Springer one by one, wished her a happy birthday and handed her the flower. Some even added a hug.

"I wanted my mom to feel special. She already knows she's special to us and I wanted her to know how much more special she is to so many people out there," said Roberts.

Springer called it “a really good day.”
