ROCKPORT, Ind. (WTHR/WFIE) — A famous heavy metal band drummer is now an Indiana police officer.

Jeremy Spencer of Five Finger Death Punch is trading in his sticks for a badge with the Rockport Police Department.

At 19 years old, Jeremy Spencer left his hometown of Boonville, Indiana and was voted the "Best Drummer of 2015" by Loudwire.

At the end of 2018, he decided to take his life in a different path.

"I'm basically taking what I did in the band and just applying it to this, and trying to do the best I can," said Spencer about becoming an officer.

Spencer says it is not a full time thing though, he's not retiring from music and will split his time in Las Vegas.
