Fishers to have contested GOP primary for mayoral race

FISHERS, Ind. (WTHR) - The City of Fishers will have a contested GOP May primary for the mayoral race.

Logan Day officially declared and filed paperwork Friday to be the next mayor of Fishers.

"It is my greatest hope to serve the residents of Fishers as a conduit of their needs and desires directly in the administration. I’m so excited to continue sharing my vision and work with citizens to build a future for Fishers together,” Day said in a press release.

As a Republican, Day will challenge incumbent Republican Mayor Scott Fadness.

Fadness filed paperwork to seek re-election on February 1st. "We’ve made great strides as a city. Our signature initiatives have been the result of collaboration with community leaders, nonprofit leaders, neighborhood activists and residents across Fishers. Recently being named the ‘Best Place to Live in America’ reflects our thoughtful planning and hard work,” said Fadness.

Friday at Noon was the deadline to file for the May 7th, 2019 primary election.

No Democratic candidates filed to run for the Mayor of Fishers by Friday's noon deadline.
