FISHERS, Ind. (WTHR) — A breaker shortage caused 75 children and 20 care givers at a Fishers Daycare and Preschool to go out into the cold Tuesday afternoon as a precaution.

Crews shut off power to the building while firefighters investigated the cause of the incident at the Dolce Daycare and Preschool near 116th street and Allisonville Road.

Owner Juli Buis said a teacher was using a hot glue gun that caused a shortage in multiple outlets. When Buis attempted to flip the breaker on, she noticed a smoky smell and without thinking twice, instructed all students and care givers out of the building in case there was a fire.

Police officers and firefighters assisted caregivers in moving the kids to ambulances and vehicles to stay warm.

Business in the strip mall also assisted by bringing drinks, blankets and snacks for the kids until parents arrived.
