An overnight fire destroyed Frankie D's Flea Market shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday in Muncie.

According to a fire fighter at the scene there were several different businesses in the building located at 1900 S. Hoyt Ave.

Five units from Munice Fire Department were originally dispatched to the scene and then additional units were called. Area volunteer departments were put on standby to cover the rest of the city.

Firefighters tried to fight the fire inside but had to back out and fight defensive on the outside.

The fire is now under control, but fire units remain on the scene putting out hot spots, which could take most of the day and into the evening.

A brick wall is in danger of collapsing near Hoyt Avenue, so the street remains closed. A gas meter on that side of building also had to be shut off.

No injuries have been reported.

The owners of the flea market closed the business around 11 p.m. Saturday.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
