Sunrise Anchor Ben Hill leaving to be closer to family; Carlos Diaz joining anchor team

Hill moved to Indianapolis four years ago. He and his wife bought their first home here, and their daughter was born here.

INDIANAPOLIS — The 13News team announced Tuesday morning that anchor Ben Hill would be leaving the Sunrise team to move back closer to family.

"After four fantastic years with this phenomenal news team, it is time for my family to move back home," Hill said. "Hoosier hospitality is absolutely an authentic action and all of you have helped make this feel like home."

Hill moved to Indianapolis four years ago. He and his wife bought their first home here, their daughter was born here.

While it is hard to see Ben Hill leave, his family's decision to raise their daughter near grandparents is certainly understandable. He will be leaving the show in good hands with Chuck Lofton, Julia Moffitt and Carlos Diaz, who will be taking his spot on the anchor desk.

"I totally understand the decision you're making because there comes a point in your life where family is the most important thing. That's why I moved back to Indianapolis four years ago," Diaz said.

Ben Hill and Carlos Diaz will be working together in the coming weeks during the transition.
