(WTHR) — The FDA is issuing a warning to women about an ingredient in supplements that could harm your unborn child.

The warning is for any pregnant woman or those of child-bearing age.

The FDA says you should not take any dietary supplement containing Vinpocetine because it could cause harm to the fetus or even cause a miscarriage.

Other names for it include "common periwinkle estract" or "vinca minor extract."

It can be sold on its own or combined with other ingredients.

Supplements that use it can be for energy, weight loss and brain and memory function.
