MARKLEVILLE, Ind. (WTHR) — Police are investigating a shooting that occurred at a home on CR 1000 South Monday night in Madison County.

Sheriff Scott Mellinger said 25-year-old Hunter Holloway got into an altercation with his family earlier in the day and then again that night. Holloway got a shotgun and threatened his parents and younger sister for several hours. After unsuccessfully trying to calm him down, the father was eventually able to distract him, run away and get another handgun in the home.

Holloway's father shot him in the abdomen during a confrontation with each other. Medics airlifted Holloway to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis in critical condition. He is expected to survive.

The investigation is ongoing.
