INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — The father of an 8-year-old girl faces 40 years in prison if convicted on all counts in her shooting death.

Kendall Brye, 40, had his bond set at $200,000 during his initial court appearance Wednesday.

He's facing neglect charges in the death of his daughter, Kendrielle Brye.

The girl's mother, Tiffany White, is charged with neglect of the dependent resulting in death.

Prosecutors say she failed to secure a gun. White also faces possession of a firearm by a felon plus cocaine and meth charges.

Immediately after the March shooting, White drove her injured daughter to a nearby Indianapolis fire station for help.

In court documents, her mother gave several accounts of what led to the shooting.

Kendall Brye left the home after the shooting in March and was captured on Monday.

Metro police are confident Kendrielle Brye did not shoot herself, but court documents aren't clear on who pulled the trigger.
