The Christmas season generates a giving spirit in many forms. For one local radio station, that means granting a miracle to a deserving family.

When Heather Knight and her children arrived here at the Radio Now 100.9 studios, they thought they were here to talk about what Christmas means to them. That's what they thought!

"For the Kyle and Rachel Radio NOW 100.9! Why we love Christmas so much is the Knight family! Good morning, Knight family," said Kyle Smelser, Kyle and Rachel Show, speaking on the air.

"Evelyn, you're first. What does Christmas mean to you this year?"

"It means about loving God," said Evelyn Knight, age 8.

"The meaning to me is it's not just about sharing, but that we get together about our God's Christmas and celebrating His birth," said Chris Knight, age 10.

"Our family has had a really rough year. We lost Daddy in August so we've been mourning the loss of him so this is going to be our first Christmas without Daddy and yet you can hear the love and the joy in my children," said Heather.

"I want to let you in on this. The last couple of weeks Heather, we've done a miracle on your street where we've taken hundreds of submissions for those families that are in need this holiday season," said Smelser.

"Emily, do you mind reading your nomination letter?" asked Smelser.

"For ten years, Heather has had a host of very serious medical problems that she's had to deal with. The most significant of which is when her kidneys failed and her sister, Megan, donated one of her kidneys to her sister. Four months ago, Heather's husband Dan had a sudden and completely unexpected heart attack and passed away. Heather's finances are extremely tight and they are still grieving," read Emily.

"The Knight family has been chosen this year to receive a miracle on your street. We have nearly $1,500 worth of Christmas surprises for you guys," said Smelser.

"Just finding out and having the label, single mom, is the label I thought I was never have and being a widow at 38. I'm just amazed and blessed and grateful and I pray that the Lord provides for us," said Heather.

"Seriously, can I just give you a hug right now! Congratulations! Miracles really do happen," said Smelser.

The story doesn't end there. This act of giving has already inspired listeners to call in and make some donations of their own making this a very, very Merry Christmas for the Knight Family.
