Fallen Southport Lt. Aaron Allan honored in Washington D.C. for National Police Week


(WTHR) — This week is National Police Week, which recognizes the service and sacrifice of officers across the country, and Southport police are in Washington, D.C. to take part in the special events after losing one of their own less than a year ago.

Police Lt. Aaron Allan's name is now engraved in the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

His widow and the Southport Police Chief are among those who traveled to D.C. to see it in person, along with other Southport officers.

Lt. Allan's name will also be read during a memorial service this morning, and a familiar voice will be singing the National Anthem- IMPD Sgt. Chris Wilburn has been selected to do the honors.
