MASON, Ohio (WTHR) - Big things could be coming to Kings Island.

Really, really big.

According to WLWT-TV, the theme park filed documents with local officials "that include drawings of what some experts say are the footers for a giga coaster."

Dennis Spiegel, president of International Theme Park Services, told the station he was "sure" the drawings indicated plans for a giga coaster, which would rise more than 300 feet into the air.

Spiegel, who was assistant general manager of Kings Island when it opened in 1972, said there are only a handful of giga coasters in existence. Most of those are at parks owned by Cedar Fair, which owns the suburban Cincinnati park.

“They’ve had great success with the giga coaster. So, when you’re riding a horse and it’s winning, you probably stay on it,” Speigel said.

He said while the drawings only show footers for the project, everything indicates they will be for a very large coaster.
