Thousands run Indy's streets for the Mini-Marathon 2019

The 2019 OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon is bringing tens of thousands of people to downtown Indianapolis.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — The 2019 OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon is bringing tens of thousands of people to downtown Indianapolis.

This is the 43rd running of the marathon.

4:30 a.m. — Good morning! Ready for a run?


4:38 a.m. — Final prep work is being done to get ready for the race this morning.


5:22 a.m. — Here's a look at the starting line.


6:00 a.m. — Our Mini-Marathon coverage is underway.




6:06 a.m. — Lindsey says the rain will arrive around 8 a.m.


6:14 a.m. — We see you Scott and Anne getting us pumped for the race.


6:22 a.m. — Some rain already, but it gets widespread around 8 a.m.

6:33 a.m. — The runners are starting to stroll in for the Mini-Marathon.



6:36 a.m. — A reminder about the road closures due to the race.


6:44 a.m. — This is the fuel we use to keep our coverage going all morning.


6:52 a.m. — That's right runners...time to get to that starting line area.


6:55 a.m. — Josh Kaufman crushed it! What a way to start the race!


7:00 a.m. — The Delta Dental 500 Festival 5k is underway.


7:16 a.m. — Andrew Taylor, a Butler University student, crosses the finish line of the Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K.

7:18 a.m. — Hey Ben! Leave some for the runners.


7:23 a.m. — A Purdue University student crosses the line to win the women's 5K.

7:27 a.m. — More 5K finishers are crossing the line.


7:31 a.m. — The Wheelchair Race is underway.

7:33 a.m. — The runners are off in the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon.

7:40 a.m. — The second wave of the Mini is underway.

7:46 a.m. — The elite runners have already passed the two mile mark.


7:50 a.m. —The third wave of runners have left the starting line.

8:00 a.m. — The fourth wave is off.

8:09 a.m. — The final wave of runners for the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini Marathon have left the starting line.

8:15 a.m. — The leaders in the wheelchair race are approaching the finish line.

8:18 a.m. — This is what's left behind from tens of thousands of runners waiting to go.

8:20 a.m. — The rain is making things sloppy out at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.


8:22 a.m. — The winner of the Wheelchair Race has crossed the finish line.

8:27 a.m. — The female winner of the wheelchair race has crossed the finish line.

8:37 a.m. — The winner of the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon has crossed the finish line.

8:45 a.m. — The women's champion has crossed the finish line of the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon.

9:11 a.m. UIndy and BSU have adjusted their commencement ceremonies to be indoors because of the rain, but runners are still going strong at the Mini-Marathon.

9:15 a.m. — Excuse us but we have to throw out props to our own Emily Longnecker. Go Em!


9:38 a.m. — Runners are still going strong and so are Scott and Anne.


10:00 a.m. — Thanks for watching our coverage of the 43rd OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon.
