INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Thousands of people participated in the 43rd running of the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon and the 20th running of the Dental Dental 500 Festival 5K.
Participants walked, ran and wheeled themselves down the streets of Indianapolis and around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as the rain steadily fell. The youngest participant only seven years old while the oldest was 87.
The rain also didn't scare away 600 volunteers who assisted in and cheered on the participants.
All 50 states plus Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia were represented in the Mini this year as well as a total of 18 countries.
In 2019, there were six people who had participated in every Mini-Marathon to date. After crossing the finish line they will have completed 563.3 miles of Indy Mini during their lifetime.
More than one million Hoosiers have participated in the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon to date.
