Election workers finish counting Marion County ballots Thursday night

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Marion County election workers have officially finished counting all ballots from Tuesday's election.

And it turns out close to half of registered voters in the county cast a ballot.

Workers wrapped up their counting around 8:30 Thursday evening.

There were more than 83,000 absentee ballots they had to get through over the past few days.

Marion County's voter turnout for this election was more than 47 percent.

Turnout for the 2016 election in the county was 53 percent.
