INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Following mass shootings in Texas and Ohio, a lot of lawmakers, like Senator Mike Braun, have called for stronger background checks.

During his 50-city "Summer of Solutions Tour," he stopped for lunch Thursday at Shapiro's in Indianapolis. Braun met with residents, including members of Moms Demand Action.

They want Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to call senators back from recess to pass legislation background checks.

Braun says ending recess early won't do any good.

"There's no way you could fashion what you've just talked about," Braun said. "Taking some time to really look at what would be something that would make it through the Senate and the House. I can tell you the House versions would not make it through."
