Firefighters from four rural departments were busy early Sunday morning battling a stubborn fire that destroyed a Decatur Township barn.

The property owner at 5605 Mendenhall Rd. awoke and saw the barn fully engulfed in flames, according to a fire official at the scene. Given the property's rural location, tanker trucks were needed to bring an estimated 12,000 gallons of water to the the barn blaze.

The barn was used for storage, but did not include any livestock, the fire official said. Damage was contained to the barn, which was completely destroyed. There were no injuries.
