Deadpool 2 has a new release date

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Deadpool fans won't have to wait as long as they thought for the release of the movie sequel.

The sequel will hit theaters on May 18 instead of June 1 — 2 weeks earlier than originally planned.

With the new move, that means the film will be released just one week before Disney's Solo: A Star Wars Story, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that it's a strategic move, making sure that Mutants and Deadpool 2 aren't in theaters at the same time.

Additionally, Gambit — a Marvel film — is getting a release date change. Fans will have to wait until June 7, 2019 for that release.
