Deadly crash blocks traffic on I-465 on east side

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - State Police say a man was struck and killed Friday morning when he got out of his car after a crash on the east side of Indianapolis in the northbound lanes of I-465.


The incident was paged out just before 6:00 a.m. when callers reported a pedestrian struck on the Interstate.

State Police on the scene said a passenger car and semi-trailer were involved in a crash. The driver of the passenger car got out, and for unknown reasons, he walked across travel lanes and was struck and killed by another passing car.


Police have not identified the victim, who died at the scene, or the other drivers involved.

The driver of the car that struck the man was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Police say that driver was not intoxicated.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

All lanes reopened just after 8:30 a.m.
