Dangerous heat continues

The Excessive Heat Warning continues through 8 p.m. Sunday. Heat indices reached 100° in Indianapolis Thursday and well above that in other locations in central Indiana.

Dangerously hot and humid conditions will be the rule, especially today and Saturday.

It will be sunny, hot and humid today and Saturday with highs in the mid 90s. Heat indices are expected to be in the range of 105° to 110°. Practice heat safety and check on your family, friends and pets.

A cold front will arrive Sunday afternoon. This will help end the stifling heat and humidity. Scattered thunderstorms will become likely by afternoon with more clouds around. It will be slightly cooler Sunday with highs in the low 90s. Heat indices will still be in the upper 90s and low triple digits.

A few lingering showers and storms will be possible Monday morning with a gradual clearing Monday afternoon. Monday will still feel humid but temperatures will only get back into the low 80s.

Central Indiana will finally get a break from the humidity by Tuesday with sunshine and highs in the low 80s.
