CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (WTHR) — Your Facebook feed is no doubt filled with photos of your friends' smiling children, ready to hop on the bus for the first day of school.

But this year, one Indiana family wanted to put a different take on the annual tradition.

Lindsey McCollum shared a photo with Eyewitness News of her three daughters, Aaliyah, Skylah and Lily, literally holding on to the last moments of summer.

With one sister pouting on the front step, another sibling has her arms wrapped tight around her father's leg as he tries to pry Lily from the front door.

"Our family has a tradition on the first day of school now and my girls decided they wanted a 'not so traditional' photo," McCollum wrote.

Despite the early morning theatrics, McCollum said her daughters had a great first day at Crawfordsville Middle School and Hoover Elementary.

"The girls are already trying to figure out how they can top this picture next year," she said. "They like the idea of how kids really feel about summer break being over."
