CARMEL, Ind. (WTHR) — Fall is here and the temperatures are dropping, which means it's time to break out the flannel PJs.

At A Sewing Studio in Carmel Tuesday, you can put your sewing skills to the test and make your own pajama bottoms.

Valerie Salmon is in her eighth year of business of teaching children the valuable life skill of sewing.

A Sewing Studio hosts weekly classes where kids can build confidence with a sewing machine. The business also hosts birthday parties, paint and sew workshops, and special Girl Scout classes.

Weekly classes are one hour per week from August through May. The studio provides the sewing machines and all necessary tools. Students will learn basic sewing skills and terminology, how to read a pattern and understand instructions, and how to cut and layout a pattern.

Salmon keeps things interesting by having students complete one-of-a-kind creations they get to take home.

While most classes are geared toward children and teens, A Sewing Studio does host adult classes on occasion. Click here for more information on adult classes.
