Couple heads to court to get son out of their home

CAMILLUS, N.Y. (WTHR) - Two parents in New York are seeking a court's help to get their adult son to move out.

The couple in Camillus, near Syracuse, say they've been trying to get their 30-year-old son, Michael Rotondo, to leave their home for several months.

In filings to the Supreme Court of New York, Christina and Mark Rotondo included five written notices they have left for their son, starting with a note on February 2.

The first note says, in part, they decided to their son must leave their house immediately, giving him 14 days to vacate. The other notes said Michael was "hereby evicted" from their home and even offered him $1,100 to find a place to stay.

The couple was then informed that since Michael is a family member, they could only have him removed from the home through an ejectment proceeding.

Michael contends that the written notices did not provide enough time for him to leave. His most recent filings ask the court to dismiss his parents' request.

A hearing on the matter is scheduled for May 22.
