WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTHR) — Republican Sen. Ted Cruz and Republican Rep Francis Rooney have introduced a constitutional amendment that would impose term limits on members of Congress.

The proposal would apply to members of both the House and Senate.

The proposal restricts senators to two six-year terms and House members to three two-year terms.

As of now, both House of Representative and Senate members can serve as many terms as they are elected.
