Colts lose season opener to Bengals 34-23

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The Colts host the Cincinnati Bengals in their season opener, and welcome quarterback Andrew Luck back to the starting lineup.

4:10 p.m. - Unfortunately, Colts lose after 24 unanswered points by the Bengals in the last quarter. FINAL SCORE: Bengals 34 - Colts 23

4:05 p.m. - Bengals continue their game-winning drive, increasing their lead 34-23 with 0:18 left in the game.

3:52 p.m. - Bengals' Randy Bullock increases the team's lead 27-23 with a 39 yard field goal.

3:30 p.m. - Three Colts penalties of this half. Bengals take the lead by one, 24-23 with a touchdown from Mixon.

3:22 p.m. - Vinateiri's attempt at a 54 yard field goal is no good. The Colts finish the third quarter in the lead 23-17.

3:10 p.m. - Bengals' Andy Dalton throws a 38 yard touchdown reception for AJ Green bringing the scoreboard to 23-17 with Colts remaining in the lead.

3:00 p.m. - The Colts increase their lead 23-10 in top of the third quarter after a 5 yard completion to Hilton.

2:50 p.m. - Andrew Luck's first half was just about as good as it can get after throwing an interception on his first official pass.

The Colts quarterback finished the half 20 of 25 with 170 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

2:23 p.m. - Colts call timeout with 0:14 left in the second quarter. Following the team's last timeout, Vinatieri finishes off the first half with a 52 yard field goal bringing the Colts to a 16-10 lead.

2:15 p.m. - Bengals' John Ross scores his first NFL career touchdown bringing the team up with 1:38 left in the second quarter. Colts stay in the lead 13-10.

2:05 p.m. - The Colts extend their lead to 13-3 on a 38 yard Adam Vinatieri field goal with 3 minutes left in the second quarter.

1:50 p.m. - Cincinnati's second turnover of the game led to a 26-yard Luck-to-Eric Ebron touchdown pass to give the Colts a 10-3 lead early in the second quarter.

1:30 p.m. - The Colts tie the game on a 21 yard Adam Vinatieri field goal after initially lining up to run a play from scrimmage on 4th down and goal from the Bengals 4 yard line.

Cincinnati safety Shawn Williams was ejected before the score for an unsportsmanlike hit on Luck as the quarterback scrambled downfield.

1:10 p.m. - The Colts' first possession ends with an interception of Andew Luck deep in Cincinnati territory. Cincinnati converted the Preston Brown pick into a 42 yard Randy Bullock field goal to take a 3-0 lead.

The Colts kicked off but took possession after picking off a Cincinnati pass deep in Bengals territory.

12:45 p.m. - Rookie Jordan Wilkins gets the opening day start at running back for the Colts.

12:05 p.m. - Eyewitness News has confirmed a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport that QB Andrew Luck sustained an injury to his throwing shoulder while snowboarding in early 2016. Luck told Rapoport just this week that he told the Colts about the injury when it occurred, and that it was a sprain that he worked through, unlike the labrum injury that sidelined him for all of 2017.

Luck enjoyed great success in 2016 and the Colts extended his contract after the snowboarding injury. Luck also said he's not gone snowboarding since the injury.

11:30 a.m. - Colts list inactive players for today's game.

10:30 a.m. - The Lucas Oil Stadium roof will be closed for the game with possible rain in today's forecast.
