COLTS BLOG: Colts fall to the Chiefs, final 13-31

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Given the postseason history involving Indianapolis and Kansas City over the years, Andrew Luck and the Colts have every reason to feel confident heading to Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday.

The Chiefs have every reason to believe they're due.

12:04 p.m. — TY Hilton is ready to play.

12:55 p.m. — Snowy weather is football weather.

1:23 p.m. — Arrowhead is looking very snowy.

1:39 p.m. — The Colts are in the house!

1:56 p.m. — Crews are struggling to get Arrowhead Stadium ready with all the snow falling.

2:07 p.m. — We're ready for this... why do we have to way two more hours?

2:09 p.m. — Fans are entering the snowy stadium.

2:22 p.m. — Snowhat! Let's play some football.

2:30 p.m. — Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins expected to play.

2:54 p.m. — Colts players are warming up... if they can in all that snow.

2:56 p.m. — Andrew Luck and Patrick Mahomes meeting up before the game.

3:01 p.m. — Anne is trying to stay dry and warm just like all the other fans going into Arrowhead Stadium.

3:02 p.m. — The Chiefs players are warming up.

3:04 p.m. — Chiefs are out with their inactive players for the game today.

3:06 p.m. — Denico Autry will be active for the Colts today, Malik Hooker is inactive for the game.

3:18 p.m. — The goat is ready.

3:34 p.m. — Carlie is here.

3:40 p.m. — Frank Reich is ready to take his troops into battle.

3:55 p.m. — We are!

4:37 p.m. — A quick three and out for the Colts first possession. A good run by Marlin Mack got some yards, but an incomplete pass by Andrew Luck set up the punt.

4:45 p.m. — Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs down the field with some perfect passes and some help from Colts penalties. Before Damien Williams ran it in. Five plays, 75 yards and the Chiefs are up 7-0.

4:51 p.m. — The Colts go three and out again after three tipped passes.

5:00 p.m. — Kansas City marches down the field again, even taking it to Colts on a fourth and one. Several strong runs including Tyreek Hill's 36-yard run for a touchdown put the Chiefs up 14-0.

5:06 p.m. — The Colts have to punt for their third consecutive time. Some runs by Marlin Mack picked up 8 yards before the Chiefs defense stopped the Colts again.

5:25 p.m. — After using the running game against the Colts on their last drive, the Chiefs switched back to their passing game with a series of throws for first downs. The Chiefs went for it again on fourth and one to again pick up a first down well into Colts territory at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes came up holding his knee after an incomplete pass and ended up limping off the field. Chiefs pick up a field goal to extend their lead 17-0.

5:30 p.m. — After two short passes, one to T.Y. Hilton and one to Eric Ebron, the Colts punt after another three and out.

5:32 p.m. — The Colts have 25 yards of total offense at this point compared to the Chiefs 188.

5:38 p.m. — A series of penalties stacked up against the Chiefs forcing them to punt after an incomplete pass left them at fourth and 20. A block on the punt was recovered by the Colts in the end zone putting the Colts on the board. Still 17-7 Chiefs winning.

5:50 p.m. — The Chiefs turned to a series of short throws and short runs to move down the field against the Colts. Indianapolis used a series of timeouts to try and save as much time as possible after the two minute warning. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes ran it in for a touchdown. The Chiefs leading Indianapolis 24-7.

6:02 p.m. — Colts rush the ball down the field in a two minute drill. Adam Vinatieri misses the kick. The Colts still trail 7 - 24.

6:29 p.m. — Kansas City started the second half with the ball. A series of short passes and runs and the Chiefs quickly moved into Colts territory. Penalties again plagued the Colts defense, but were able to get a key sack on fourth and 5. After the play was over, the Colts were penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct. Colts take over on downs.

6:35 p.m. — The Colts picked up a first down with Luck connecting with Inman. On the next set of downs, two incomplete passes and then a low pass left the Colts facing 4th & 10 and having to punt.

6:42 p.m. — On the Chiefs second drive of the second half, the Colts defense came up big with some key stops and some negative yardage. The Chiefs were forced to punt.

6:48 p.m. — Penalties again hurting the Colts so much that an 11 yard pass to TY. Hilton wouldn't make a difference. The holding call was questionable though. The Chiefs then sacking Andrew luck forcing another punt. The Colts still have no points on offense.

6:51 p.m. — Colts defense comes up huge, forcing a fumble and the Colts recover.

6:53 p.m. — On a possession that was key for the Colts to do something, Chiefs force Andrew Luck to fumble and recover.

7:02 p.m. — You'd have expected the Colts to be the big running team today, but the Chiefs are doing it well. Still the Colts defense comes up with a key sack and force the Chiefs to punt again. Still no scoring from either team in the second half.

7:08 p.m. — Colts pick up a first down off of a couple runs. Then a penalty and incomplete passes (including one that was almost picked off) forces the Colts to punt from deep in their own territory.

7:24 p.m. — Colts Marlon Mack got things going with a 20 yard run. He followed with a 10 yard run for a first down and then a 14 yard run for another first down. Refs missed a pass interference call on the Chiefs. Colts go for it on 4th & 9 with Luck connecting with Rogers. Then Luck connects with T.Y. Hilton for a touchdown. Adam Vinatieri then misses the kick. Colts trail 24-13.

7:39 p.m. — Colts had the Chiefs punting, but a call of running into the kicker gave the Chiefs new life on a drive that started at the Chiefs own 39. The chiefs burn the clock and run it in for another touchdown. With 2:32 left to play, the Chiefs lead 31-13.

7:44 p.m. — Andrew Luck starts connecting on the final drive of the game. A pass interference call helped get them into the red zone, but couldn't get it done. Game end Colts 13, Chiefs 31.
