INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Social justice activist and former NFL star Colin Kaepernick has announced he will release a memoir this year with his publishing company, Kaepernick Publishing.

Audible will hold all rights to the audio version of the book. The Audible deal is a multi-project agreement with Kaepernick Publishing to create other original audio content.

"This story tells of the experiences that led to the act of protest that has inspired the world," the publishing company tweeted Thursday morning.

In a press release, Audible said the memoir would reveal the moments that led to Kaepernick risking his NFL career with his silent protests during the national anthem.

"My protest was the culmination of years of thought and experiences," Kaepernick said in the release. "I want to tell the story of my evolution, and the events that led me to protest systemic oppression, in hopes that it will inspire others to rise in action.

The memoir will be available in print and e-book versions, as well.
