Cold temperatures bring weekend snow

We had a quick burst of snow this morning north of Indianapolis, but it didn't amount to much. In fact, the real news today is the cold air. And it IS cold. The high today will be 11 degrees below average at 30 degrees.

Friday will be dry but everyone wants to know about the chance for weekend snow.

The best chance for accumulating snow will arrive late Friday night and last through Saturday. As we get new information, we will keep you updated on timing and totals. Right now this looks like the first accumulating snow of the season for many towns. We are looking for 1 to 2 inches of snow in metro Indianapolis but areas north of Indy like Lafayette, Muncie and Marion could see 2-4 inches of snow. East central Indiana could get the most snow since it will be blowing off of Lake Michigan in the afternoon, too.

The overall pattern stays cold and active. This means morning temperatures in the teens and 20s and afternoon numbers in the 20s and 30s. There will be another chance for snow next week on Wednesday.
