CLOVERDALE, Ind. (WTHR) - A Cloverdale woman died after police say the SUV she was driving left the road and ended up in a frozen pond.

Police responded to the area of U.S. 231 and county road 1300 south shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers arrived and made their way 30-feet across a frozen pond to remove 56-year-old Lavada Anne Boyette from her SUV.

Medics transported Boyette to Putnam County Hospital where she later died.

Preliminary investigation revealed the southbound 2013 Honda Pilot traveled off the east edge of U.S. 231 for an unknown reason.

The SUV continued approximately 600 feet before coming to rest in the pond.

Police say they received a 911 call from someone shortly before the crash reporting they were run off the road in the area of the crash.

An autopsy is scheduled for Lavada Boyette Thursday morning.
