City leaders, community join in Haughville public safety walk

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - City leaders, including Chief of Police Bryan Roach, spent part of Wednesday afternoon going door to door in Haughville.

As part of IMPD's monthly public safety walk, they handed out flyers and door hangers.

The goal is to get the word out about an upcoming resource fair with information about social services.

Indy's top cop believes the public safety walks are one way to let criminals know their behavior won't be tolerated.

"It's a small group, and we're trying to impact them through law enforcement means, but I think the other side of that is communities really standing up and making sure that their community is not a place that welcomes that," said Roach.

Roach invites people to join the public safety walks to help make neighborhoods safer.
