Cicero man dies in overnight crash west of Lapel

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) - Police say a Cicero man died in an overnight crash on Middletown Avenue early Thursday.

According to a media release from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, medics pronounced Shawn Butler, 38, dead at the scene after his Cadillac crashed west of Cyntheanne Road.

Butler's wife, Rachel, was injured in the crash and taken to St. Vincent Hospital with a head injury.

Police say Butler was westbound on Middletown when he lost control and struck a utility pole.

Toxicology tests are underway to determine if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
