CHICAGO (WTHR) — A family spokesperson confirmed the son of 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Lopez has died, NBC Chicago reports.

Yovanny Jadiel Lopez, just 2 two months old, was cut from his mother's womb. A mother and daughter are accused of luring Marlen Ochoa-Lopez to their home before strangling her to death just before her due date.

The baby was born with severe brain damage and had been on life support.

"It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of baby Yovanny Jadiel Lopez," family spokeswoman Julie Contreras said in a statement. "He passed away this morning Friday June 14, 2019 from his severe brain injury."

Earlier this month, there were reports that the baby had started showing brain activity and begun breathing on his own.

In addition to murder charges for mother and daughter Clarisa and Desiree Figueroa, the mothers boyfriend, Piotr Bobak has been charged with concealing the homicide.
