INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - It's June 13 and that means it's time for Check Up 13.

We're focusing on bulging, varicose veins.

It is one of the more popular offerings because it is a free consultation at Vein Solutions and it's for anyone has has aching, bulging varicose veins in their legs.

Someone like Lisa Hudson. A nurse, she stood on her feet for 12 hour shifts and the large bumps on the backs of both of her legs were bulging veins. It's a genetic thing. Her dad and mom have it, her sister has it and Lisa delayed getting anything done until finally one day she said 'you know what, I am going to go in and see what we can do about it.'"

We caught up with her when she was about 6 weeks post-op.

"I wasn't sure when to get it done. Should I wait longer? Doctor F said 'no, you need to get it done now, especially if you plan to have children. They are only going to get worse.' Just having (them) this bad before children was motivation for me to get them done now. I am just so thankful. The whole process, from the very beginning, my whole pre-op to my post op 6 weeks, it was seamless. It was effortless. I didn't have any downtime. It was a great experience. My only regret is that I didn't get it done sooner."

Eyewitness News talked Dr. Finkelmeier, who said even if you decide not to get something done he wants to caution people who have bulging veins, make sure if you are on a long flight or a long car ride that you get up and walk around, that you keep your legs active so if you have a clot and you prevent a bigger problem.

If you are interested in a free consultation, go to our website to register until midnight June 13.
