TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) — Police are still searching for Paul Etter, but now the suspect in the abduction and assault on a woman is facing formal charges.

The charges include rape, kidnapping, criminal confinement, sexual battery and interference with the reporting of a crime.

Police believe Etter may be hiding in many acres of land owned by his family.

A woman reported Etter abducted and assaulted her around 5 p.m. Saturday night. The woman reported the attack happened after her car broke down on North 900 East near 26.

Investigators say Etter handcuffed her, assaulted her and smashed her Apple Watch when she tried to make a phone call with it.

Court documents say Etter then blindfolded and shackled the woman inside a barn. Later he released her and drove her back to her car.

When he is caught, the state is asking for a million dollar bond.

If you have any information on where Etter could be, call the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office at (765) 423-9321 or the We-Tip Hotline at 1-800-78Crime.
