An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for most of central Indiana from 2pm today through 8pm Sunday. With afternoon highs forecasted to soar into the mid 90s and high humidity, heat indices will make it feel like 100°-110°.

Take breaks from the heat and check on your elderly family and friends. Make sure that pets get breaks from the heat too.

There is a chance of a few isolated thunderstorms late this morning into the afternoon. A few storms could become strong to severe, with damaging winds the main threat.

The main weather story for the next several days though, will be the high heat and high humidity. Dangerous high heat will take over with hot, hazy and humid conditions. Temperatures will soar into the mid 90s today.

Heat indices will be in the 100° to 105° range.

It will be clear, muggy and mild overnight. Temperatures will only fall into the mi 70s, still feeling like the low to mid 80s, thanks to the high humidity.

Friday and Saturday are expected to be the most uncomfortable, as the hot dome of high pressure settles over the Midwest. Temperatures will climb back into the mid 90s with heat indices in the 105° to 110° range.

Scattered thunderstorms will be possible Sunday. This will bring more cloud coverage but temperatures will still be hot. Temperatures will climb into the low to mid 90s with heat indices in the low triple digits.

Monday will bring relief from the high heat with highs in the mid 80s.

Humidity will continue to fall on Tuesday with sunshine and highs in the low 80s.
