INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Carmel built up a 17-point lead through three quarters and held on for a 20-17 victory over error-prone Center Grove in the Class 6-A high school football championship game Saturday night at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Trojans took a 3-0 lead on an Austin Watson 22-yard field goal to cap their opening drive. But three fumbles and an interception on their next four possessions gave Carmel the opening to build a 13-3 halftime lead.

Zach White's ten yard touchdown run late in the third quarter put the Greyhounds up 20-3.

Center Grove sophomore Tayven Jackson completed 11 of 12 passes for 119 yards and two touchdowns in the final quarter to cut the lead to 3 before Carmel recovered an onside kick and ran out the clock.

Center Grove’s Jalen Goines was named Eskew Mental Attitude Award recipient.
