Carmel police officer arrested for OWI

CARMEL, Ind. (WTHR) – A Carmel Police Department officer was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated Tuesday.

Officer Bryan Hood was employed as a police officer for the Carmel Police Department since 2000.

Police say Hood was driving his personal vehicle when he was stopped by officers for a traffic violation near City Center Drive and Range Line Road around 9:34 p.m.

Officers determined that Hood had been drinking. During the investigation, Hood submitted to a breath test and tested .19% BAC, more than twice the legal limit.

Hood was taken to the Hamilton County Jail where he is being held.

He will be placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the criminal investigation.
