Carmel Clay Schools to extend school days

CARMEL, Ind. (WTHR) — After canceling four days of school for cold and snowy days this winter, Carmel Clay Schools has had to come up with a plan to make up days.

The district has two days built into the calendar, so there are still two days to make up. After discussing options, the district decided to extend the school day through the end of the year.

School start times will remain the same, but 10 minutes will be added at the end of the day.

Here are the new dismissal times:

  • Elementary schools: 2:45 p.m.
  • Middle schools: 3:15 p.m.
  • High school: 3:15 p.m.

If more days have to be canceled because of weather, the district plans to continue adding time at the end of each school day.
