Butler, Milan HS, other schools answer call for donations from former IU coach

HOUSTON (WTHR) - College basketball teams around the nation are responding to a former Indiana University coach's call for help.

University of Houston basketball coach Kelvin Sampson tweeted out a plea for assistance Monday, asking his fellow coaches to donate shirts and shoes to the Hurricane Harvey relief effort.

Within the first day, several programs responded, including Butler University's men's basketball program.

Milan High School also sent a care package full of T-shirts.

University of Kentucky head coach John Calipari was among the first to respond Monday night and his equipment staff worked quickly to put a package together.

The North Coast Athletic Conference, which includes a number of midwestern Division III colleges, including DePauw and Wabash, also pitched in:

By Tuesday, colleges of all sizes shared photos of their donations.
