Butler comes up short, falls for first time this season


WACO, Texas (WTHR) - The Butler Bulldogs fell from the ranks of the unbeaten in college basketball with a loss at Baylor Tuesday night.

MaCio Teague and Devonte Bandoo led the 11th-ranked Bears with 10 points apiece in the 53-52 win. Kamar Baldwin scored 19 points and Sean McDermott added 16 for Butler.

Baylor led by 10 points at halftime before the Bulldogs rallied, but Mark Vital blocked Baldwin's shot at a go-ahead basket with 1.5 seconds left to seal the victory.

The 18th-ranked Bulldogs joined top-ranked Louisville and No. 4 Maryland as other teams to lose for the first time this seaosn on Tuesday. Only five unbeaten teams remain in Division 1 men's basketball.

Butler hosts Southern Saturday at noon at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
